Role: The Get Going…Get Rowing programme in Cork introduces rowing to a variety of groups in Cork city and surrounds, including schools, disability groups and adult community rowing.  The programme invites newcomers to try the sport and if they like it to progress to their local rowing club to become valued members and participants.  The programme is delivered in partnership with Cork Sports Partnership and the local rowing clubs in Cork city and surrounds.  We’re looking for a Community Coach in Cork city to help us deliver this innovative programme.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist in delivery of the Get Going…Get Rowing programme to schools and the wider community, as set out in the Get Rowing curriculum for school students and adults
  • To help with the running of camps and events relating to the project (if necessary)
  • To support events associated with the Get Going Get Rowing programme
  • To have the ability to work and liaise with both teachers, participants and programme partners
  • To work closely with the Cork Rowing Development Officer
  • To log and record all class numbers for evaluation and monitoring purposes

Skills and Expertise

  • An understanding and experience of rowing is desirable
  • A reliant self-starter
  • An ability to encourage participants to take the pathway created by the programme to continue rowing in a club setting
  • Ability to create a positive and energetic atmosphere during classes/camps
  • To be flexible and reliable with the programme and classes
  • A coaching qualification is an advantage but not essential
