Get Rowing kicks off 2026 with 2 blitz announcements

Get Rowing can’t wait to welcome school rowers far and wide to back-to-back Blitz events in Northern Ireland and Dublin in the first few weeks of this new year.

January 27 will find us at the Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin for our Blanch Blitz, and the following week we’ll head to Dundonald High School in Belfast on February 2.

Get Rowing school blitzes feature a day of 5-person teams competing in 2,000m relay races within their year group. We also will have individual races dedicated to athletes with additional needs. Depending on the number of participants we also may offer “open” categories for experienced rowers and “mixed open” races for girl-boy teams.

Rowing as a sport appeals to all kinds of athletes, and our blitzes are quite often an opportunity for students new to sports participation to shine doing a thing they might never have thought of doing before. The feeling of representing their school and bringing back a medal is second-to-none!

Keep an eye on our social media (@get_rowing) for registration announcements. Questions can be directed to Caroline in Northern Ireland at caroline@rowingireland.ie and Aoife in Leinster at dublincoordinator@rowingireland.ie. See you at the Blitzes!

If you can’t make it to these events, Get Rowing has availability for the rest of the academic year so don’t hesitate to reach out to Caroline or Aoife at the addresses above, or Amy in Munster at limerickcoordinator@rowingireland.ie to get on our roster of school programmes.
