Confirmation of Camp Registration
If you are seeing this message your registration has been successful, there is no need to attempt to register again. PLEASE KEEP READING FOR IMPORTANT CAMP INFORMATION.
Thank you so much! We’re looking forward to having you with us!
On the first day, an adult must come to the boat club with the rower(s) and meet the lead coach to sign in. If friends are coming together, it’s fine to send 1 parent with a group of campers, but we can’t have campers showing up on their own on the first day.
Camp begins at 10am, there is no need to arrive more than 5 minutes prior; our staff will be setting up for the day, no supervision will be available, and we cannot leave rowers unattended. Collection time is 1pm.
The first day of camp we will work on technique and talk a lot about safety. Rowers will wear buoyancy aids for the week.
Prior to camp, please could you watch the Rowing Ireland safety video with your child, which covers many things, including what to do in the event of a capsize: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDjqrzpGoEE
We will ask the children to sign a form upon arrival stating that they have seen this. Thanks.
Each day of camp, please bring the following essentials: a full change of clothes, a towel, sun cream, a hat, a healthy snack (NO NUTS OR SEEDS, PLEASE, so everyone can enjoy camp safely!), and a bottle of water. Please dress for the Irish weather—keep an eye on the forecast and send your child with appropriate rain gear when necessary. Tighter-fitting clothing is best (oars get stuck in baggy tops). Rowers cannot wear hoodies and cannot wear slides—runners are best, particularly old ones that can get a little wet. As well, everyone with lots of hair will need to have it tied it back securely and bunched up so it is not hanging and thus a safety hazard.
Finally and most importantly, rowers should bring a good attitude and be ready to have some fun meeting new friends and learning a new sport! Our entire staff are really looking forward to getting out on the water with all these kids this summer!
